The Graduate College of Social Work (GCSW) at the University of Houston, one of only three Carnegie Designated Tier One Public Research Universities in Texas, is accepting applications for a full-time, senior, tenure-track faculty member for AV 2015-2016. The successful candidate will have an extensive federally-funded research trajectory and expertise in Public Health, Intervention research, and/or Behavioral Health (defined as mental health and substance use).

Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Social Work or related field. Preference will be given to applicants with an existing research portfolio in health and/or behavioral health; demonstrated success in securing extramural research funding; and scholarship in refereed publications. Persons from underrepresented groups are especially encouraged to apply.

Faculty appointment will be commensurate with record and experience.

About the College:

The University of Houston's GCSW is the only graduate social work program in the fourth largest city In the U.S. Houston is an international and multicultural· city and the University and College reflect this diversity as well. The GCSW is located on the University of Houston main campus, in close proximity to the Texas Medical Center, which is home to The MD Anderson Cancer Center, the Menninger Clinic, UT Medical School, Michael E. This environment is rich in potential for numerous collaborative opportunities in research and behavioral health care. In 2012-2013, total active, externally funded research was approximately $10.5 million at the GCSW. Research is primarily under the auspices of the College's Center for Drug and Social Policy Research and The Child and Family Center for Innovative Research. As a graduate-only College, the GCSW enrolls approximately 350 M.S.W. and 40 Ph.D. students each year. Reflecting the diversity of the University and the Texas Gulf Coast Region community, the fall 2014 incoming class speaks 15 different languages.
