UHCOP Students, Alumni and Faculty Among Session Presenters and Panelists at TSHP Annual Seminar April 22-24 in Frisco  

From live competitions to session panelists and presenters, UH College of Pharmacy students, alumni and faculty members will be out in force at the Texas Society of Health-System Pharmacists' 2016 Annual Seminar April 22-24 in Frisco, Texas.

UHCOP also will host an Alumni & Friends Reception 7:30 p.m.-9 p.m. Friday, April 22, in the Frisco 1 Room of the Embassy Suites Frisco Hotel, which serves as the conference venue. 

Among those presenting in the Student Research Poster Competition sponsored by the TSHP Research & Education Foundation are:

  • Sunny Bhakta, "Lipid Emulsion in the Treatment of Calcium Channel Blockers";
  • Grace Hwang and Lena Rakouki, "Elements of the Best Medication Reconciliation Process: A Literature Analysis to Define the Best Practice of Medication Reconciliation";
  • Dao Ly, "Student Perception, Attitude and Barriers to Completion of Assigned Reading Material During Pharmacy School";
  • Lydia Solis and David Pham, "Analysis of Nursing and Pharmacy Technician Practices of Safe Medication Distribution";
  • Kaitlin Wasko, "Environmental Prevalence of Clostridium difficile on Low-touch v. High-touch Areas at Houston Public Parks"; and
  • Boxin Xu, "Implementing Rapid Diagnostic Tests Improve Antimicrobial Stewardship Outcomes and Times in Patients with Gram-positive Bloodstream Infections."

Twenty-three UHCOP students are preparing to defend the college's streak of two consecutive years of winning two of three divisions in the Clinical Skills Competition, and four students are set to keep the Disease State Manangement title in Houston.  

In addition to the student poster session, UHCOP alumni, faculty and even a current student will serve as panelists or presenters during the student and practitioner education tracks:
