Mathematics (M.A.)

The Master of Arts in Mathematics is primarily designed to prepare students to teach mathematics at the secondary school and junior/community college levels. The program also provides advanced degree credentials for teachers who wish to take on supervisory positions.

In this program, students learn and experience a wide variety of areas in mathematics, such as number theory, geometry, probability, and statistics. Although initially designed to increase the number of mathematics instructors in the Houston area, this program’s reach has spread nationwide. Many graduates utilize the program to take positions in high schools and community colleges.
