Post-Baccalaureate Status

A post-baccalaureate student is one who has earned one or more degrees and wishes to take more courses in a non-degree-seeking capacity.

At UH, a post-baccalaureate student may only take undergraduate courses and is not considered a graduate student. If you are thinking about enrolling in NSM as a post-baccalaureate student, discuss your situation with the NSM Undergraduate Advising Center.

If you are interested in taking a few graduate courses in NSM, you should discuss your situation with the appropriate departmental graduate advisor . You will need to apply for a non-degree objective graduate status and will be limited to no more than 18 hours of graduate courses, 9 of which can be applied to a future graduate degree at UH. The GRE is not required for admission into a non-degree objective program. Proof of English proficiency (TOEFL or IELTS scores) is required for students who have obtained their prior degree(s) at a non-U.S. institution.
