UHPD Chief Ceaser Moore Addresses Campus Security

UH Campus Community,

We recognize your concerns in light of three armed robberies in and around campus in the last two weeks. I want to reinforce our commitment to campus safety. Any crime against any member of the University of Houston community is a crime against all of us.

I want you to know that I have increased patrols on campus and assure you my officers are working vigorously in conjunction with the Houston Police Department to identify the individuals responsible and ensure your safety. So far we have made one arrest. I can’t guarantee that crime will not impact our University, but together we can foster a campus that is as safe and secure as possible. I urge you to:

  • As always, be aware of your surroundings particularly at night and in less populated areas.
  • Be vigilant. If you see something, say something. Report any suspicious activity. UHPD can be reached at 713-743-3333.
  • Trust your instincts.
  • Use the secure ride programs we have on campus including Cougar Ride and Cougar Pack.
  • If you have not done so already, make sure to subscribe to the UH Alert system.

Thank you for your continued awareness and personal efforts to make our campus more secure.
