High School Students Dive Into All Things Energy at UH

Schedule Includes Drones, Robotics and Fracking a Well

High school students interested in careers in energy will get a high-tech taste of the industry Thursday, Aug. 2, at the University of Houston.

The camp is supported by the International Petroleum Association of America and is open to students enrolled in the IPAA Petroleum Academies at Energy Institute High School, Milby High School, Westside High School and Young Women’s Preparatory College. About 100 students are expected.

They will spend the day on the UH campus engaging in hands-on STEM activities, including spending time in the drone and robotics labs at the UH Cullen College of Engineering. The day ends with students competing to design a multi-frack lateral well.
