Korin, co-director of the Institute for the Analysis of Global Security and a senior adviser to the U.S. Energy Security Council, is co-author of several books on the topic, including “Petropoly: The Collapse of America’s Energy Security Paradigm,” “Turning Oil into Salt: Energy Independence through Fuel Choice” and “Energy Security Challenges for the 21st Century.”
“U.S. politicians have for years been telling voters that reducing oil imports will lower prices at the pump. Reality has shown differently,” Korin said in an email about her talk. Other topics she expects to cover include the implications of the Arab Spring and the Islamic State on oil prices, as well as the impact of a rapidly developing Asia and the latest moves by Vladimir Putin.
The Energy & Sustainability Program includes a minor requiring 18 hours of course work and a final research project. Although it is based in the Honors College, it is open to students in any discipline.
