Before they take a rest for spring break, three University of Houston writers will share their works with the city’s literary lovers.
UH Creative Writing Program (CWP) doctoral candidates Kay Gosgrove, Corey Noll and Ashley Wurzbacher are the featured authors at the next edition of the Gulf Coast Reading Series. These free readings begin at 7 p.m., March 9 in Houston’s Brazos Bookstore (2421 Bissonnet).
Cosgrove’s poetry has been published in journals such as Zone 3, Moon Milk Review, Caper Journal and Autumn Sky Poetry. A sample of her work can be found on the Autumn Sky Poetry site.
Wurzbacher’s fiction has been showcased in publications such as The Iowa Review and Barnstorm. In 2007, she received the Allegheny Review Prize for Fiction. To read her short story “Foreign Girl,” visit the Barnstorm site.
Fiction writer Noll arrived at UH in 2009. He will make his Gulf Coast Reading Series debut.
Founded in 1986 by Donald Barthelme and Philip Lopate, Gulf Coast,
A Journal of Literature and Fine Art spotlights the literary and visual arts
communities. The journal is a partnership between CWP, the Museum of Fine
Arts-Houston and the Menil Collection. It reviews submissions from artists and

As part of UH's English department, CWP offers fiction and non-fiction writers
and poets intensive training in both creative writing and literary studies. It
offers two graduate degrees: the Master of Fine Arts and Doctor of Philosophy.
CWP's noted faculty includes award-winning authors and poets such as novelist
Antonya Nelson, poet and non-fiction writer Nick Flynn, graphic novelist Mat
