Noe Marmolejo leads the Moores School Jazz Orchestra in the many styles of jazz big bands. Concerts include swing, Latin music, and more contemporary styles like funk, rock, and hip-hop. In February of each year, the Moores Jazz Festival features international jazz artists as part of an adjudicated program for middle schools, high school, and college jazz groups. Marmolejo is an active jazz and classical trumpet performer. He is also an active adjudicator and clinician in the Houston area and is director of the Jazz Institute of the Texas Music Festival.

The Moores School of Music is proud to offer drumset instruction by Joel Fulgham. Fulgham is a native Houstonian with over 30 years experience of playing and private lesson instruction. Fulgham has played alongside such jazz luminaries as Freddie Hubbard, Joe Henderson, George Coleman, Michael Brecker, Joe Lovano, Eddie Harris, Bill Watrous, Tim Hagans, Arnett Cobb and David “Fathead” Newman. In the Houston area, Fulgham leads The Joel Fulgham Big Band and his own jazz quintet, Monstrosity. He also regularly performs with Theater Under the Stars,The Houston Symphony, The David Caceres Band, The Texas Music Festival Jazz Project and many others.

Jazz Bassist, graduated from the Rice University Shepherd School of Music, and primarily studied with Paul Ellison and H. Stevens Brewster. He currently teaches and performs in Houston and surrounding areas. He leads The Blue Monks, and is a member of the Theory of Three and Category Five. He has performed with the Houston Symphony, Theater Under the Stars, Ray Charles, Clark Terry, Rita Coolidge, Rosemary Clooney, the Sun Ra Arkestra and many other renowned artists and organizations. His performances include commercial jazz, modern classical and forays into the avant-garde. He resides in Southwest Houston with his wife and four children.

A Houston native, Mike Wheeler grew up listening to the western swing music that his grandfather played on guitar. He studied in San Antonio with Jackie King before going to the Berklee College of Music in Boston in 1983. Mike later received a Bachelor of Music from the University of St.Thomas, Houston in 1993. Well established in the Houston Music scene, Mike has worked in clubs, formed jazz groups, and played with most of the major orchestras and performance groups in the Houston area including the Houston Symphony Orchestra. He has performed jazz artists such as Clark Terry and Joe Williams in addition to many pop artists such as Willie Nelson, Charlie Pride, Andy Williams, Larry Gatlin, Jennifer Holiday, and John Denver.

Dr. Woody Witt is an Affiliate Artist at the University of Houston Moores School of Music and Professor of Jazz Studies at Houston Community College Town and Country campus. Woody also serves as the entertainment director of Houston’s premiere jazz club, Cézanne. His extensive performance experience includes events with the Houston Symphony, The Temptations, Randy Brecker and Ray Charles, to name just a few.>
