Welcome, Teach Forward Houston students! The College of Education (COE) is excited to be a part of this ground breaking partnership with Houston Independent School District (HISD). As a Teach Forward Houston fellow, you will earn a Bachelor of Science in Teaching and Learning in a top rated college at a Tier One university!
We know once you earn your degree, you will return to HISD and be able to inspire your students with confidence. You will learn from experienced faculty who are here to guide you each step of the way. COE is committed to student success…committed to your success!
As a Teach Forward Houston Fellow, you will move through your degree plan in a cohort fashion, which means you will progress through the Teaching & Learning program together with as many other Teach Forward Houston fellows as possible. Research indicates that cohorts benefit by providing support to one another, not only academically, but socially. Students are encouraged to collaborate with each other, form study groups, and indulge in deep discussion.
The College of Education and HISD are working together to ensure the success of the program. Students will benefit from a network of support from both COE and HISD. Resources are available for tutoring, emotional support and career services. After completing the Teach Forward Houston program and graduating with a teacher certification, fellows will be hired back into HISD fully prepared in curriculum, classroom management, and the essential skills necessary to be an effective classroom teacher.
Teach Forward Houston students will benefit from school experiences, hands on training, and top notch faculty. The Teaching & Learning faculty are excited for all the program has to offer. COE is looking forward to watching you learn, grow, and become an inspiration to your future students!
