Sad News: HHP Honor Student Princess Eke Passes Away.

The department was saddened to learn of the passing of HHP graduate, Princess Eke, on Sept. 7, 2010 due to post-transplant complications. In 2008, she earned her bachelor’s in kinesiology/sports administration with a minor in psychology, and she received her master’s of education in physical education this spring.

She was the recipient of the 2009-2010 SFAP Outstanding Graduate Student Award and was also a member of the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Phi Epsilon Chapter.

Princess loved what she did and was an outstanding student. She was also a beloved friend to many.

“Inspired by her instructors while earning her bachelor’s degree, she was awarded a teaching fellowship where she was able to inspire others. Her students spoke well of her and enjoyed learning from her. Princess will always be remembered for her vibrant smile and uplifting laugh, which she demonstrated even in the toughest of times,” recalls Jessica Wheeler, HHP program coordinator.

“Princess Eke was one of the finest students we have graduated from our Sport and Fitness Administration Program. She received doctoral program acceptance letters from Texas A&M University and the University of Georgia. Unfortunately, they will never know what a fine young lady and scholar they had in their incoming class. She will be missed,” said Dr. Demetrius W. Pearson, associate professor and HHP associate department chair.
