AP Test Program
The University of Houston recognizes the efforts of high school students who take the Advanced Placement (AP) exam. AP scores sent to the University of Houston will be reviewed for credit. The University Testing Services website provides a list of AP test subjects and the minimum score needed to be awarded UH course credit. Please pay particular attention to the footnotes when reviewing the scoring information.

Students that are beyond high school can test out of some college courses by taking CLEP exams or Departmental Credit by Examination tests.  Visit University Testing Services, located in the Student Services Center to learn more about Credit by Examination.

UH also offers credit for scores of 4, 5, 6, or 7 on the International Baccalaureate (IB) Higher-Level (HL) Examinations. To request credit, students should send their scores to the Executive Director of Learning & Assessment Services for evaluation.  Please visit to order Official IB Transcripts.
